PVQ Steel Plate

SA516
SA516 is the most popular Pressure Vessel grade of steel plate in the industry. It is produced in grades 55, 60, 65 & 70. The most common is Grade 70, although we also stock grades 60 & 65. This specification requires normalizing over 1-1/2” thick plate, although we also stock lighter gauges as well in the normalized condition. SA515 has the same mechanical properties as 516, but is often required to be course grain as opposed to fine grain. The SA515 we stock is certified only to fine grain.

Tensile: 70 to 90 ksi
Yield: 38 ksi min
Elongation: 17% min in 8” 21% min in 2”

Mechanical Properties Gr 65:
Tensile: 65 to 85 ksi
Yield: 35 ksi min
Elongation: 19% min in 8” 23% min in 2”

Mechanical Properties Gr 60:
Tensile: 60 to 80 ksi
Yield: 32 ksi min
Elongation: 21% min in 8” 25% min in 2”
