Plate Specialists
Chapel Steel provides products for a wide range of applications
including structural, carbon and hsla steel plate, alloy and
abrasion resistant steel plate, marine and offshore steel
plate, pvq steel plate, armor and ballistic steel plate and
cat specs.
Structural
Carbon & HSLA Steel Plate
Chapel Steel offers structural carbon & hsla steel plate
products in a variety of steel grades.
A36
Structural, Carbon & HSLA Steel Plate
A36 is one of the most widely used grades of steel plate.
It is used in practically every industry and its applications
are too numerous to mention. Chapel Steel stocks a wide range
of sizes in all of our warehouses.
A572
Structural, Carbon & HSLA Steel Plate
A572 is a high strength low alloy steel plate used in a variety
of structural applications. It is produced in Grades 42, 50,
60 & 65—the grades representing the yield strength.
The most common grade Chapel stocks is Grade 50 which is produced
up to 4” thick.
A588/A606/A242
Structural, Carbon & HSLA Steel Plate
A588 is a high-strength low-alloy steel plate used in structural
applications such as bridges and buildings. Its advantage
over A572 50 is its “weathering” ability, which
provides atmospheric corrosion resistance and ultimately longer
life in applications where exposure to elements will be a
factor. We generally stock this material as A588 Gr A &
B in plate and 606 in sheet.
A709
Grade 36, 50 and 50W Steel Plate
A709 is the specification used for steel plate used in the
manufacture of bridges. Chapel Steel stocks A709 Grade 36,
A709 Grade 50 and A709 Grade 50W. These grades are often specified
with charpy tests referencing the specific zone (or climatic
region) in which the bridge will be in use.
CSA
G40.21 44W Steel Plate
Chapel Steel stocks a generous supply of Canadian steel plate
in grade G40.21 44W. 44W is sometimes referred to with its
metric designations of 300W. When referenced with a “T”,
such as 300WT, this indicates that charpy tests are required.
CSA
G40.21 50W / 50A Steel Plate
In addition to the 44W Chapel Steel also stocks the higher
strength Canadian steel plate in grades G40.21 50W and G40.21
50A . 50A has a higher alloy content than 50W which contributes
to its weathering ability.
A656
Structural, Carbon & HSLA Steel Plate
A high strength low alloy steel plate used in structural applications
where lighter weight and improved formability is critical.
Made to Grades 50, 60, 70 and 80— the grade designating
the yield point.
1045
Structural, Carbon & HSLA Steel Plate
A steel plate made with a .42-.50 carbon and a .60-.90 manganese
content.
33
MAX Structural, Carbon & HSLA Steel Plate
An As-Rolled product made to a .33 maximum carbon. Used in
applications where physical and mechanical properties are
not required.
Alloy
& Abrasion Resistant Steel Plate
Chapel Steel offers the following alloy and abrasion resistant
steel plate products in a variety of steel grades.
AR360
/ AR400 Alloy & Abrasion Resistant Steel
AR400 and AR360 are quenched & tempered through hardened
wear resistant grades of abrasion resistant steel plate used
for high impact and abrasion. Both AR360 and AR400 have a
minimum brinell of 360. Chapel Steel's premium grade of these
products are Chapalloy 360 and Chapalloy 400.
AR400F
Alloy & Abrasion Resistant Steel
AR400F is quenched & tempered through hardened wear resistant
grades of abrasion resistant steel plate used for high impact
and abrasion resistance. Chapel Steel's premium grade of this
product is Chapalloy 400F. Chapel Steel recommends the “F”
chemistry in applications where there will be forming or higher
impact. AR400F has a minimum brinell of 360.
AR425
/ AR450 Alloy & Abrasion Resistant Steel
Quenched & tempered through hardened wear resistant grade
of abrasion resistant steel plate used for high impact and
abrasion resistance. Also made to the in the “F”
chemistry. AR425 has a 400 min brinell and AR450 has a 420
min brinell.
AR400
Flat Bars
Chapel Steel offers AR400 in true mill flat bars where straightness,
flatness and the elimination of any heat affected zone is
important. Minimum brinell is 360.
T-1
321 / T-1 360 Alloy & Abrasion Resistant Steel
T-1 321 and T-1 360 are quenched & tempered through hardened
wear resistant grades of steel used for impact and abrasion.
T-1 321 and T-1 360 have a minimum brinell of 321 and 360
respectively. It is important to note that Chapel Steel recommends
that this grade not be used in any structural applications.
AR500
/ AR500F Alloy & Abrasion Resistant Steel
AR500 and AR500F are quenched & tempered through hardened
wear resistant grades of abrasion resistant steel plate used
for severe impact and abrasion. Chapel Steel's premium grade
of these products are Chapalloy 500 and Chapalloy 500F.
AR235
/ AR200 / AR Medium Alloy & Abrasion Resistant Steel
This product is a lower grade of wear resistant steel plate,
which is referred to as AR200, AR235, or AR Medium depending
on the manufacturer. It is used in applications of slight
abrasion where abrasion resistance combined with economy is
the primary concern.
A514
Alloy & Abrasion Resistant Steel
A quenched and tempered high strength steel used in structural
applications where high strength and low weight are critical.
We stock this material in Grades B, H, F & Q.
TMCP
100ksi min yield / Hiten 780LE Resistant Steel
The Hiten 78OLE is a high strength steel plate manufactured
using a Micro-alloying and Thermo Mechanically Controlled
Process. This process allows this plate to have a superior
surface quality, excellent weldability, better forming and
higher charpy values than quenched and tempered plate. An
excellent substitute for A514.
Marine
and Offshore Steel Plate
Chapel Steel offers the following marine and offshore steel
plate products in a variety of steel grades.
ABS
